Record Details 15/05/2021 Northwold; TL749972; compost; Kate Risley; Tony Leech; Derek Schafer; "Image and material sent to Derek Schafer for confirmation and sequencing."; DNA barcoded; Lit. cited: 360;162; Additional NotesCylindrical cap 10-12 mm diam. The veil was of globose cells organised into discrete brown-tipped peaks, especially near the apex. Basidia 4-spored. The spores (6.8-8.0 x 5.5-6.2) seem closer to descriptions and Ule's illustrations of Coprinopsis cardiaspora [=Narcissea cardiaspora] than to C. cordispora or C. patouillardii. Consensus ITS sequence matches 99.7% (616/618) to PX375225 Narcissea cordispora. There are no published sequences of Narcissea cardiaspora. DS comments that in the original description of Corprinus cardiasporus by Herr Bender in 1986, the type is listed as in the author's herbarium but the subsequent publication in 2020 of the Wachter & Melzer paper on the family Psathyrellaceae stated the holotype of N. cardiaspora was 'not available'. It is unclear whether the type had disappeared or was just not provided.
