Cheilocystidia lageniform, numerous, some capitate. ITS barcode matches well to DQ987907 which is the epitype of T. segestria held in the herbarium of the Museum National d’historie Naturelle in Paris (PAM01100112) . According to Matheny's paper, the holotype has been ‘lost’. However, correspondence with Kew mycologists puts doubt on the authenticity of the epitype; the specimen has been sequenced by a number of people but it has not officially been designated as the type.
